Note taking is my pretext for buying an iPad. Not sure this app is it though.

An app for note-taking and a stylus with a fine point would be a fabulous way to take notes and keep track of random stuff I write down.  I already carry a portfolio with a pad of paper.  Bye bye to that if someone does it right.

First Look: SketchNotes for iPad

by Erica Sadun (RSS feed) on Mar 28th, 2010

When I first heard the idea for SketchNotes, I wasn’t really that intrigued — until I watched this video. Combining a text editor and a drawing tool, SketchNotes brings a nicely conceived idea to the table. On a platform that supports both text entry (via a physical or onscreen keyboard) and touch-based drawing, unifying these two concepts comes more naturally than I would have thought.

Developed by Amanda Rosler of ZombieCatSoftware, SketchNotes looks like it will offer a simple but pleasant utility that will come in handy both when taking notes on the go and while sitting down at a desk or (more likely) table at Starbucks. It’s yet another application that I look forward to trying out on a real device.

By day (and usually night) Greg Pinelo is a political strategist and media consultant for Democratic candidates, progressive causes and socially responsible corporations. By night (and sometimes day), I try to find ways to use technology to make work and life a little easier, with an emphasis on Apple gear. I try out lots of things, have lots of opinions. Take 'em or leave 'em.
